With roots in agriculture studies in Sri Lanka and hands-on greenhouse work in Sweden, Gayan Samarasinghe has always been driven by one mission: growing stronger, healthier plants through science and sustainability. Now at Arevo, he’s turning that passion into impact.
My interest in this field started during my undergraduate studies in Agriculture & Plantation Management in Sri Lanka, where I learned about the importance of controlled environments in producing healthy, high-quality plants. Later, during my master's in Forest Ecology and Sustainable management in SLU, Umeå, I became deeply interested in research-based approaches to improve plant growth and sustainability.
Working as a horticulture officer and greenhouse worker gave me hands-on experience with plant care, pest management, and experimental trials, which strengthened my passion for greenhouse management and research. I enjoy roles that combine practical work with scientific principles, and this position aligns perfectly with my interest in research-oriented tasks and sustainable plant production.
In my previous role as an Experimental Assistant at SLU, I was involved in setting up and monitoring controlled plant and soil experiments, collecting data, and ensuring proper environmental conditions. This experience taught me precision and attention to detail, which I believe are essential for managing greenhouse environments effectively in this role.
I’m excited to join Arevo because its mission aligns perfectly with my passion for sustainable agriculture. Enhancing soil health and supporting beneficial microbes to create stronger with zero nitrogen waste, more resilient plants is something I strongly believe in. With my background, I understand the importance of building systems that can withstand climate stress while maintaining productivity. Arevo’s precision nutrition technology takes that concept to a whole new level, and I’m eager to contribute to research and practical applications that push the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable agriculture. Being part of a team that prioritizes both plant performance and environmental responsibility is truly motivating for me.
I’m most looking forward to contributing to the research development process by helping maintain healthy plants in controlled conditions. I enjoy combining practical work with research-driven approaches, and I’m excited to learn more about how Arevo’s precision nutrition technology works in practice and also looking forward to building new skills while supporting Arevo’s mission.
