Forest nurseries

Arginex Forest Shoot & Root is a nutrition system that simplifies daily operations in the forest nursery without compromising seedling quality. For nursery managers, it means more consistent output, higher predictability, and reduced environmental and production risk.

The Arginex
 advantage.

Predictable schedule. No daily adjustments or reactive interventions. Up to –43% fewer fertilization events. Less labour, less operational load.

Zero nitrogen leaching, even in rain. Arginine binds to the substrate and stays in the root zone. Up to –65% lower nitrogen leaching vs. standard ammonium nitrate programs.

More uniform seedling quality. Easier packing and dispatch.

Less waste and reduce resources. Up to –25% lower water consumption.

Feedback

“We apply nutrition once a week. No special knowledge is needed to learn how to feed the seedlings. It follows a schedule. It's actually simpler than managing irrigation, which requires more of a feel for it.”

FAQs

Questions?
Answered.

What is Arginex Forest Shoot & Root?

Arginex Forest Shoot & Root is a nutrition system designed specifically for forest nursery production. It consists of two components – Arginex Forest Shoot and Arginex Forest Root – applied on a scheduled fertigation program customised to the nursery’s production cycle. It is built on arginine, the most nitrogen-rich amino acid found in nature, which binds to the growing substrate and stays available in the root zone rather than leaching away.

How is it different from standard nursery fertilization?

Standard ammonium nitrate fertilization can result in up to 85% of applied nitrogen leaching from the substrate causing environmental risk, higher costs, and inconsistent uptake. Arginex Forest Shoot & Root binds to the substrate, delivering nitrogen in the form the plant recognises and absorbs directly. The result is more efficient nutrition with significantly fewer inputs.

Will it reduce our labour and operational load?

Yes. Nurseries using Arginex Forest Shoot & Root report up to –43% fewer fertilization events and up to –25% lower water consumption. The scheduled, repeatable program removes the need for daily adjustments and reactive interventions, freeing staff time and reducing staffing pressure during peak production periods.

What happens to seedling quality?

Seedlings grown with Arginex develop more robust root systems, more root hairs, and higher mycorrhiza levels. This translates directly into more uniform batch quality, less culling and waste, easier packing, and higher survival rates after planting in the field, which matters to the forest owners receiving the stock.

Is it hard to implement?

No. Arginex Forest Shoot & Root can be introduced gradually and tested within existing production without disrupting deliveries. Arevo supports nurseries through a three-step onboarding process: an initial inventory of current conditions and goals, a tailored nutrition schedule (‘recipe’) for a safe and comparable test run, and ongoing support and evaluation throughout.

Does it reduce our environmental risk?

Yes. Because arginine binds positively to the negatively charged substrate, nitrogen stays in the root zone even during heavy rainfall. This significantly reduces leaching-related eutrophication risk and reduces exposure to tightening environmental regulations around nursery nitrogen runoff.

How do we get started?

Contact Arevo to begin a three-step process: Step 1: we map your current setup, goals, and fertilization program. Step 2: you receive a tailored nutrition schedule for a safe, comparable trial. Step 3: ongoing support, evaluation, and results review. Reach out at info@arevo.se or call +46 (0)70 286 86 00.
