arGrow powered by Arginex
Contains Arginine, a natural source of nitrogen that is very efficiently taken up by forest plants. Arginine stimulates the growth of roots and the establishment of mycorrhiza, which helps the plant absorb nutrients and water. Because arginine binds to soil particles, it does not leach into the surrounding environment.
Application methods:
Tool 1
Hand dispenser
Simple, fast, and built for planting at scale.
The arGrow hand dispenser screws directly onto the granule bottle, making accurate dosing easy in the field. Apply granules through the planting tube or directly into the planting hole, placing them right where the plant needs them most — at the roots. One press delivers the recommended dose for standard plants. For larger or bare-root plants, use two presses.
Tool 2
Planting tube with integrated arGrow dispenser
Complete planting tube with built-in dosing system.
Ready to use immediately — simply attach the granule bottle and start planting. Available in five sizes: 38 mm, 45 mm, 50 mm, 55 mm, and 63 mm.
Tool 3
arGrow mounting kit for planting tubes
Convert your existing planting tube with the arGrow dosing system.
Delivers the correct amount of granules with a simple hand movement, helping ensure consistent application at every planting. Complete step-by-step assembly instructions included.
Tool 4
arGrow mounting kit for shovel/drill
Compatible with Smålandsborr and Värmlandsborr.
Feeds granules directly into the planting hole via hose for seamless application with no additional handling. Complete assembly instructions included.
The Arginex advantage.
Up to 30% increase in survival rate compared to control reducing replanting costs
Up to +39.1% larger stem vs. control at age 5 – reaching pine weevil-proof size (>10 mm) sooner
Up to +28% taller trees vs. control at age 5
Up to +20% higher long-term forest growth
The survival advantage is observed in pine, spruce, and birch, across multiple Nordic climate zones
Suitable for a wide range of species including pine, spruce, birch, contorta, larch, oak, eucalyptus, poplar, and more
Applied once at the root zone during planting with easy arGrow applicator
No nitrogen leaching as arginine binds to soil particles like a magnet

FAQs
Questions?
Answered.
What is arGrow?
arGrow powered by Arginex is a forestry nutrition product based on 100% natural arginine, the most nitrogen-rich amino acid in nature. It is applied directly to seedling roots at planting and provides nutrition that lasts the tree’s lifetime. Developed in Sweden and produced in Umeå.
How does arGrow work?
Arginine binds to negatively charged soil particles, making it available in the root zone without leaching. Trees absorb arginine more efficiently than conventional nitrogen sources, supporting stronger root establishment and long-term growth without the need for follow-up fertilization.
Will it improve seedling survival?
Yes. Independent trials show that survival rates are up between 4% and 15% higher survival under normal conditions. In favorable conditions, survival rates up to 30% higher have been measured compared with mineral fertilisers after three years, meaning fewer losses and less need for costly replanting.
How is arGrow applied?
arGrow granulate is applied directly to the roots at planting, at a dose of 0.55 ml per seedling. One bottle covers approximately 450 seedlings. It can be dosed automatically with a handheld applicator or attached to a planting tool.
Which tree species does it work with?
arGrow is suitable for a wide range of species including pine, spruce, birch, contorta, larch, oak, eucalyptus, poplar, and more.
Is arGrow proven at commercial scale?
Yes. arGrow powered by Arginex has been used by small and large forestry companies for over a decade as part of their standard planting program. Over 700 million seedlings have been planted with Arginex across three continents, with effects validated in multi-year independent field trials.
